About the Order
Feast Days of the Order
Through the year the Lieutenancy keeps the feasts at the heart of its life: honouring the Holy Cross, Our Lady Queen of Palestine and the saints of the Holy Land.
Feasts the Order keeps
14 September
The Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross
The Order’s titular feast, celebrating the Cross which drove away darkness and brought in the light, lifting the faithful with the crucified and risen Christ.
25 October
The Blessed Virgin Mary, Queen of Palestine
First invoked by Patriarch Luigi Barlassina in 1920, this title honours Our Lady as principal patroness of the Holy Land and of the Order.
18 August
The Memorial of Saint Helena
Mother of the Emperor Constantine, Saint Helena journeyed to Jerusalem and, by tradition, recovered the True Cross, a cornerstone of the Order’s devotion to the Holy Places.
21 August
Feast of St. Pius X
Giuseppe Sarto, the humble parish priest to the world who rose to the papacy, is remembered as a man of deep prayer and pastoral zeal, and the only canonised member of the Order.
