Where the children of Bethlehem are cared for

Around 330,000 children under the age of fourteen live in the south of the West Bank, the area between Bethlehem and Hebron. If they fall ill, the Caritas Baby Hospital in Bethlehem is the place to go. It is the only hospital in the West Bank that cares exclusively for children.

Up to 82 children can be treated in its inpatient wards, and thanks to the intensive care unit established in 2013 the hospital is well equipped to deal with emergencies and patients in critical condition.

Caritas Baby Hospital is acknowledged by the Palestinian authorities as a teaching hospital, where medical students can specialise in paediatrics. It also houses a Centre for Continuous Education, offering further education courses for its staff and for people from outside the hospital.
